A measure by state Rep. Ron Stephens to provide Georgia homebuyers a one-time tax credit on their state income tax took effect Monday.
This new law, signed recently by Gov. Sonny Perdue, applies to any homebuyer, not just first-time homeowners.
For the next six months, the credit is for up to $1,800 for a single-family home.
'The housing market is an essential part of our economy,' said Stephens, a Savannah Republican. 'And by passing this legislation, we hope to encourage and promote home buying in the state of Georgia.'
Hope this was helpful. This is just one of many issues your local, state and National Association of REALTORS are doing for you!
